A MARKETING GUIDEBOOK

What is marketing?

Marketing is not about who can shout the loudest. Marketing is about understanding the needs and desires of people. It is about getting to know consumers by asking them who they are, what they desire, and what they care about. It is starting a conversation. Because only through communication can we learn to truly understand each other, and so marketing is a conversation that should never end. Check up on your customers, ask them how they are doing, show them that you care, and show them who you are. By developing a strong relationship with your customers, you are able to build trust. Hence, they are more likely to stay loyal to your brand. Marketing is not about selling a product or a service. It is about telling a compelling story that ends with you answering one or more of their questions. It is a process that starts already before your brand is born. It starts by an idea: to create a product or service that meets their needs.

The Marketing Mix

The marketing mix, or the four Ps of marketing, is the foundation for any marketing strategy. I therefore recommend that you go through the first three Ps and make sure that you can answer these questions.Once you do, you can move on to the last P, where I have prepared information that will help you to choose among different marketing approaches.

  • Product – What is your product or service, and in what way does it meet the needs of your customer?

  • Pricing – What will be the price of your product or service? Is it a competitive price?

  • Place – How will the customers receive your product? Are you opening a physical store or are you planning on selling online?

  • Promotion – What marketing approaches are you going to use to tell people about your product or service?

Now that you know the product, price and place , let's explore some options for ways of promotion. Below you will find five different marketing approaches that are very relevant today. Click on the different ones to learn more about them, and discover which ones that could be beneficial to your brand.
